Biography

Jane was born in 1843. She was the daughter of George Hodge and Sarah Ann McKenna (or McKinnon?).

Jane (Hodge) Wallace migrated from Scotland to New Zealand.

Jane Hodge married Matthew Wallace in Scotland. Their first son, Matthew, was born there in 1862 at Glengarnock. Their daughter Sarah was born in 1864.

Jane (Hodge) Wallace lived in Hunua, Auckland, New Zealand.

She died in 1892 in Auckland, New Zealand and is buried in Hunua Cemetery. Jane had a short and painful illness and was at the home of one of her daughters (Sarah, now Mrs D T Orr), in Haydn Street, Auckland, when she died. She was 52 years old. The funeral was on 5 February, departing for the Auckland Railway Station, so that her body could be transported to Hunua for burial.
