He was educated at Clifton College, Clifton, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.2 He graduated from Worcester College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1873 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).2 He graduated from Worcester College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for North-East Lancashire between 1886 and 1892.2 He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the Oxfordshire Yeomanry.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for South Oxfordshire between 1895 and 1906.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Oxfordshire.2 He was decorated with the award of the Territorial Decoration (T.D.).2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Oxfordshire.2 He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the service of the Oxfordshire Yeomanry.1 He was created 1st Baronet Hodge [U.K.] on 6 August 1902.2 On 3 January 1903 his name was legally changed to Robert Trotter Hermon-Hodge by Royal Licence.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Croydon between 1909 and 1910.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for South Oxfordshire between 1917 and 1918.1 He was created 1st Baron Wyfold, of Accrington, co. Palatine of Lancaster [U.K.] on 17 May 1919.[1]
