Biography

Andrew was born in 1887. He was the son of William Hipson. He was an able seaman, still living with his parents, in the 1911 census. He died in Malta in 1918 (1 August 1918, member of the Royal Naval Reserve, rated as a Trimmer and assigned to HMS Egmont (HMS Egmont was a shore establishment (the Fort St Angelo in Valetta harbour), HQ of the Mediterranean Fleet of the Royal Navy and in no need of a trimmer to manage the coal in its bunkers; presumably ACH was between ships (or had been invalided off one))
