William Watson Henderson, 1st and last Baron Henderson was born on 8 August 1891.3 He was the son of Rt. Hon. Arthur Henderson and Eleanor Percy Watson.1,3 He died on 4 April 1984 at age 92.4
He was educated at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Darlington, County Durham, England.3 He was editorial secretary of Daily Citizen between 1913 and 1914.3 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Enfield Division, Middlesex between December 1923 and October 1924.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Enfield Division, Middlesex from May 1929 to October 1931.3 He held the office of Member of the Air Council between 1945 and 1947.3 He was created 1st Baron Henderson, of Westgate in the City and County of Newcastle upon Tyne [U.K.] on 19 October 1945.3 He held the office of Joint Under-Secretary of State, Foreign Affairs between 1948 and 1951.3 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 21 July 1950.3
