Biography

Ned was born to Donald Henderson and Marjorie Campbell in 1939. He married Shirley Helene Elliott and had three children (see below). He died in a air crash in 1982. See below for information on Col. Col. Gordon 'Ned' Henderson was born to Donald Brenton Henderson and Marjorie Cambell in 1939 at Brookfield, Nova Scotia. He married Shirley Helene Elliott and had three children in Dartmouth: Theodore, Pamela and David. Ned was killed in a air crash in a T-33 trainer jet on May 26, 1982 while getting some extra flying time. Col. Ned's plane crashed into a boggy, barren area midway between Indian Harbour and Peggy's Cove Nova Scotia. This plane was often used by the Navy to toe targets for gunnery practice. He was Deputy Commander of the Maritime Air Group - title 'Colonel'. He was given a burial with full military honours on Saturday May 28, 1982 at the Protestant Chapel at C.F.B. Shearwater and included a 60 man honour guard.
