Biography

The Nuckolls Report contains the following:

James Nuckolls III moved to Louisa County, where he was deeded "two hundred acres on the South Fork of Little River, at Charles Nuckolls [his brother] Corner." He was also the grantee of two hundred acres from William Henderson and his wife of Albemarle County. As this land was not in the same part of the county and he did not hold it for very long, it may be presumed to have been a gift and that his wife was a daughter of this William Henderson. ^[1]

Research Notes

A William Henderson was married in Goochland, Virginia in 1792. Hanover County is right next door which is where Mary (Henderson) Nuckolls was reportedly born. This makes this Wm Henderson a good candidate to be her father.

William's birth is estimated based on the birth date of his daughter Mary who is variously reported as being born in 1710 or 1720. Most children were born to men less than 50, so subtracting 50 from 1710 provides an approximate early birth date of 1660. Using age 20 and 1720 provides a late birth date of 1700. Splitting the difference yields 1680. Adding 100 to the late date provides a reasonable "not after" death date.
