Hi Richard,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles!

It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Richard,

Teresa: I'm researching Cyrus Newberry, is your father Clifford a descendent of Cyrus? Cyrus is the father in law of my 2nd great uncle William Harrison Hawkins, who married Cyrus daughter Martha Jane Newberry, Richard W. Hawkins

no Cyrus Newberry in my line

Thanks for adding your ancestors on WikiTree! There can be a bit of a learning curve to WikiTree, but once you figure it out, it is a great place to interact with other family historians.

By the way - I notice that you are using "Richard Hawkins research" as your source on these profiles. As we are a collaborative tree, it would be a great help if you could be a bit more explicit about your sources. For instance: If these are from a family bible or work done by another family member that you inherited or a birth or death certificate, giving specifics will help others know where the information comes from. Anything would be helpful.

Here is what our Sources help page says. It has lots of ideas: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sources.

Thanks for joining WikiTree!

Hi Richard,

You've been a member of WikiTree for about a week now so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions?

We want to help! Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

PS Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for volunteering! You are now a full member of the WikiTree community, and can start adding your family. Let me know if you have any questions.

Since WikiTree is different from other genealogy sites, we have a guided tour for new members at New Member How-To. Feel free to work through the How-Tos at your own pace.

Once you add profiles to WikiTree they become searchable and in my experience persons interested in these profiles will contact you and may provide further information to expand your family tree.

Great to have you on board, enjoy, and good luck growing your branches.
