Emily Jane Hawker was born on 15 January 1855 in Coates, Gloucestershire, the daughter of Henry Hawker and Charlotte (Lait) Hawker[1][2]
1861 Census: aged 6 years (b. Coates, Gloucestershire), with her parents in Dents Row, Coates, Gloucestershire
1871 Census: aged 16 years (b. Coates, Gloucestershire) she was employed as a Servant by the Piff family of Elmstone Hardwicke, Gloucestershire[3]
On 10 October 1875 Emily Jane Hawker married Neighbour Higgins in Prestbury, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire[4][5]
1881 Census: aged 26 years (b. Coates, Gloucestershire) with her husband Neighbour and their children Keziah, William and John in Southam, Gloucestershire[6]
1891 Census: aged 36 years (b. Coates, Gloucestershire) with her husband Neighbour and their children William, John, Charles, Mary and Emily in Southam, Gloucestershire[7]
