Biography

John was born about 1765 in Montgomery or Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. His father's name was John. He married Anna Barbara Hoke before 1786 in Pennsylvania and they had at least 5 children, one born in Montgomery County and two born in Washington County, Pennsylvania. By 1805, the family was living in Hocking County, Ohio when eldest daughter Margaret married Christian Stukey.

John Harsh Sr appears in the 1830 census for Hocking County, Ohio and so do his two sons, John Jr and Samuel, each with their own household. By 1850, John is living with his daughter Eve Comer and her family. He is 85 (b1765PA) and indexed as Horth instead of HARSH.

John Harsh died 1856 in Logan, Hocking County, Ohio and was buried in the Union Cemetery. He shares a tombstone with his wife Anna Barbara Hoke Harsh who died in 1804.
