Sarah was born on October 11, 1840; probably in Benton County, Missouri but Scott County, Virginia will be listed here to coincide with her Find-a-Grave Memorial and avoid an error suggestion. She is the daughter of Robert Hamilton and Louisiana Pulliam. Records indicate that both Sarah and her brother David Hamilton were born in Missouri before her parents moved to Scott County, Virginia in about 1844-1845 where the family is listed on the 1850 Census.^[1] Her father passed away before the 1860 Census was taken and she is listed with her mother and six siblings in the same area of Scott County, Virginia.^[2]

Sarah married Charles Huston Fraley (1844–1913) on May 6, 1867^[3] and is listed with her husband on the 1870 Census^[4] and the 1880 Census^[5] in Scott County. The family was in Lampasas County, Texas when she passed away on July 10th of 1883 at the age of 42. She is buried in Smith Cemetery in Kempner, Lampasas County, Texas.^[6]
