George Hamilton married Bridget Coward, daughter of Colonel William Coward, in October 1719. He held the office of Member of Parliament for St. Johnstown, County Donegal Ireland between 1727 and 1760. He gained the rank of Cornet of Horse. He held the office of Member of Parliament for Wells between 1747 and April 1754.

The death location is uncertain. I have not been able to find facts to back up that he died in Scotland. The Honourable George Hamilton (c. 1697 – 3 May 1775) was a British politician, the second son of James Hamilton, 6th Earl of Abercorn.

He was twice Member of Parliament for Wells in the British House of Commons. Between 1727 and 1761, he represented St Johnstown (County Donegal) in the Irish House of Commons. He was known for his love of planting.
