Biography

George Famelton, later Hamilton, was born about 1722 to weaver William Famelton. A 1753 deed records him as "George Hamilton weaver in Lassuden Eldest Lawfull Son of William ffamilton weaver in & portioner of Earlstoun "[1]

Subsequent family consistently use Hamilton - and are yDNA connected to descendantts of the nearby family of weaver Robert Familton (married Mary McDougall) in Ancrum, Roxurghshire.
