Wed. 20- Went to Mr. George Ham,s, five miles, and preached at the funeral of Trustum Leighton, Son of Mr. Mark Ham of Milton. from Jer.9:21
Little Trustum, was Several months advanced in the 8th year of his age and a fine promiseing boy.
Yesterday morning his parents sent him to school as usual but he was Stoped on the way by another boy some 11 years old, and requested to help him do his Stent at picking wool, in a mill, and then the other boy (Mr Holand,s son)would go to School with him. He was caught by the picker, and carried against a plank, that burst from the picker frame, and was thrown over the wheel, or Sylender a dreadfully mangled object, one arm was Towrn to fragments his bowels nearly towrn out, and Several holes made through the Scul. Yet he had his Senses for a few minutes, and was heard to Say, O Lord! o dear! I must die I must die!! and Soon expired. This Sad accident hapened at Milton three ponds, June 19.
Not long since those same mourning parents went out on the Sabbath (as they aught not to have done)to pick plums, and dureing their absence a lovely little daughter 2 1/2 years old, their little Julia was burned to death by her clothes takeing fire.
