Josiah was born in 1771 in New Hampshire, the son of Benjamin Hall III and Melitiah Pond.
His wife is unknown. He has two known sons:
- Josiah R Hall, Jr. b. 12 Apr 1789 at Keene, New Hampshire
- Tillotson Hubbard Hall b. about 1794 in Massachusetts
Josiah passed away in 1849 and is buried at the Baptist Church Cemetery, Mexico, Maine.
