Thomas Haden was born about 1730 and died in 1806. Thomas was a yeoman. He established in his descendants the parish gentry family of Haden of Holywell House, which was led by his second son, John Haden, after the untimely death of his elder son Thomas. The surname had been spelt as "Adin" prior to "Haden" becoming the accepted form.
It is believed that Thomas' parents were John Adin and Dorothy Thompson, who married in Wragby, Yorkshire on 15 Oct 1722. John came from Warmfield, near Wakefield. A bondsman to their marriage licence was a John Adin of Sharlston by Warmfield, who was a yeoman; presumably a relation.
Thomas Haden is confirmed as being a yeoman in his will.
