Biography

Jean (Gunn) McAdam is a member of Clan Gunn.

Jean was born in 1782 according to the information on her memorial tombstone in the graveyard at Watten.

Jean was living at Catchery, near Watten, at the time of her marriage to Peter McAdam in Watten in September 1807. The banns were read on 28 August 1807.^[1]

Watten Churchyard Tombstone Inscription: Peter Macadam Farmer & Miller at Watten. . . . his wife Jane Gunn, a native of Watten born 1782 Died 23rd Sept 1852, much respected in all the relations of life, a true help-mate to her husband and a most affectionate mother to their numerous family, by whom this memorial is raised.

Points for Further Research

Could Ann Gunn (mother of John McAdam or Gunn) and Jean Gunn be the same woman? It was not uncommon for the name "Ann" and "Jean" to be interchangeable in the records at this time.
