Catherine (Gunn) Nicolson is a member of Clan Gunn.
Catherine Gunn ("Guner") married David Nicolson in Sanday, Orkney, on 23 April 1819.[1] Catherine was born in Latheron and David in Bower: it is possible that they had both travelled to Orkney for work and met there. Both Catherine and David stated their place of residence as Sanday and the witnesses to the marriage were William Bain and William Miller.[2]
The couple subsequently returned to the mainland. Catherine was named as the mother of James Nicolson who was born about 1823 and baptised in Watten, Caithness, on 31 March 1823.[3]
In 1851 David and Catherine were recorded on the census as living in Kirkstyle, near Canisbay, in Caithness, with their children John, Williamina and Thomas, and their grandson, William Gray. David's trade was "carter".[4]
