Biography

Lydia was born 12 Mar 1677/78 Plymouth, Plymouth Co., MA.[1] She was the daughter of Edward and Dorothy (Lettice) Gray. Her father was a very early settler at Plymouth, though not of the Mayflower party; her mother was his second wife, who outlived him and married second Nathaniel Clarke, from whom she applied for a divorce. Lydia married Caleb Loring on the 17th August, 1696 at Plymouth, Massachusetts, America.[2] [3][4]

Mrs. Loring, called "Madame Loring" in the community, was a member of the church with her husband.

She died 28 Mar 1771 Plymouth, Plymouth Co., MA and is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Plympton, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, US[5]

Probate

Lidia Loring of Plimton, widow died intestate and on 5 August 1771, Thomas Loring of Plimton was granted the administration of her estate.[6]

Her inventory was recorded on 29 November 1771.[7]

In 1774, an account of her estate by Thomas Loring was recorded which included funeral charges, gravestones, debts paid, lawsuit with the widow Loring, improvement of the farm, and administration fees.[8]
