Robert was born in 1865. ^[1]

In the 1911 census Robert (age 45) was in Govan, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Also in the household were his wife Helen, and children Mary, George, Margaret (Maggie), and Robert Fowlds Gray, aged 9. Helen's uncle William Train, aged 74 was also staying with the family.^[2]
