Biography

Jared was born about 1765 after his parents had come to live in Cumberland County, where they had built a log cabin. He was already found in the West Pennsboro tax list in 1785. He was an active member of the Big Soring Presbyterian Church, starting in at least 1786, when the church records first include his name. He appears on the US Federal census in 1800. He was made Chairman of the Constitutional Republicans in 1805 in Carlisle.

After the death of his father James in 1807, Jared and his family moved to Pickaway Co. Ohio. Jared is listed there in a Ohio tax record in 1810. He is on the 1820 and 1830 Federal census records for Pickaway, Pickaway, Ohio. He wrote his will in 1827 and it was probated after his death in Pickaway county in 1832. He referred to his wife Jane and to children James, +Robert, Thomas, +Samuel, +Jared, Arthur, Isaiah, Susannah, Martha, and Margaret. Those with a + were the executors.

Jared died on 17 September 1831 and was buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Kingston, Ross County, Ohio, United States.^[1]
