He was contracted in marriage to Egidia Gaw 20 January 1574, and alienated to her and his children by her, the sunny half of the lands and Barony of Dod or Muirlathrinewood of Forfar, of which she took sasine 5 October 1575, though the marriage did not take place because Elizabeth Semphill was still living.[5]
