Biography

Sophia GRAHAM was born about 1814 in Kentucky and died after 1850. She was the daughter of John GRAHAM who gave permission for her to marry in 1832.^[1], ^[2] Her mother was thought to have been Rebecca WITTEN.^[2]

She was married at least twice during her lifetime. Her first marriage was on 28 December 1832 in Floyd County, Kentucky to William Henry LAYNE.^[1]

William Henry LAYNE was born on 17 November 1809. He died sometime between 1840 and 27 September 1845, probably in Floyd County, Kentucky. He was the son of James Shannon LAYNE and Katherine HAGAR.

Conflict of Death:

My notes show he died on 16 August 1847 of Typhoid Fever,^[3] but his wife was married again in 27 September 1845^[4] so he obviously would have died prior to that date. His last census record was 1840 so it is believed he died sometime between 1840 and 27 September 1845.

After the death of her first husband, Sophia married for the second time on 27 September 1845 in Floyd County, Kentucky to John NESBELL.^[4]

John NESBELL was born about 1810 in Virginia and died after 1850.
