Biography

Sallie was born October 3, 1910 in Mississippi, United States. Her parents were John Harrison Gipson and Cora Malinda (Purvis) Gipson.^[1]

In 1920, nine year old Sallie lived in Des Arc, Prairie, Arkansas, United States with her father John (age 40), mother Cora (shown as Cara, age 38), siblings Vista (age 18) and John Jr. (age 12), and her maternal uncle Gilbert G Purvis (age 32).^[2]

Sallie married Robert Devore July 10, 1932 in Prairie County, Arkansas, United States^[3] and they had at least five children^[1] (see Notes).

In 1940, Robert (shown as Guy R, age 40) and Sallie (age 39) lived in Des Arc, Prairie, Arkansas, United States with children Guyman (shown as Guymon, age 5), Joel (age 4), Melinda (age 3), and Donald (age 1).^[4]

Sallie died April 27, 1991 and was buried in the Lakeside Cemetery in Des Arc, Prairie, Arkansas, United States beneath a gravestone shared with her husband.^[1]
