[1]32. John Giberson Sr. was born in 1762 in Upper Freehold Township, Monmouth, New Jersey.109 He lived in Beaver Harbour, Charlotte County, New Brunswick in 1783. He died in March 1842 at the age of 80 in Florenceville, Simonds, NB, Canada (Carleton). (footnote 109) John immigrated. (footnote 109) He was Dutch. (footnote 20) The first of the family to come to Canada was John. He was a Loyalist, who had fought on the English side in the revolutionary war. After the war ended, he was given a grant of land (Aunt Annie said she thought it was on the Nashwaak river) in New Brunswick.

2) No. 170 (1814), a memorial of a John Giberson, Jr., asking for land on the Manquart River, of 250 acres (MG 9, A 5, vol. 1-7).
3) No. 279 (1820), A John Giberson Sr. served in Kings American Dragoons in the Revolutionary War, petitioned for 10 acres of land to build a grist mill in Wakefield (MG 9, A 5, vol. 1-7). Elizabeth "Betty" Brown and John Giberson Sr. were married about 1788 in New Brunswick. (footnote 109)
