Alexander, son of Alexander Gibbon & Barbara Simson, was born or baptised on 18 October 1805 in Towie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.^[1]

Research Notes

While it cannot be conclusively be proved as no death record can be found in Scotland. If this Alexander is the father of George Gibbon (abt.1836-1906), then it's possible he wasn't actually deceased by 1858 (as per George marriage records), or if that if he was, was it in Canada.

This Alexander's father and his elder brother John, can both be found in Canada around from around 1836, it could be possible that Alexander went with them, perhaps explaining why he can't be found on the 1841, 1851 census or any further records Scottish records.

there are 2 possible Alexander Gibbons born around the same place and time, however I've elminated the other one, born in 1808 in Tullynessle, as he has a clear paper trail and is married to a different Margaret (Mathieson) so, I would strongy suspect that this Alexander (1805) was the father of George
