Biography

English flag
Sue (Genet) Erkkila has English ancestors.
England Orphan Team
Sue (Genet) Erkkila has completed the England Project's Orphan Trail.

I am fifth generation New Zealander with roots in England, Wales and probably Europe although we haven't discovered where yet. I was brought up in New Zealand, left for Australia in 1978 and spent 12 years there mainly up in North Queensland on a sugar cane farm among all of Australia's wildlife. I managed to drive all the way round the country . I returned to New Zealand with my children in 1990 then departed again to Australia in 2006 (against my will). This time to go commercial fishing off the top end of the country between Darwin and the Gulf of Carpentaria. I've travelled to most of the countries I've wanted to and some I haven't.

I've always been interested in history and on returning to New Zealand became intrigued with our family history. My mother had done an enormous amount of discovery work on our ancestors (mostly back before there was computer access to so many records and it's become my role to add to her existing profiles and occasionally find new exciting relatives or interesting tidbits of news of them.

Hi Sue

After a long break, we are now getting the New Zealand Project back in action. Would you like to join the Kiwi Crew Discord server? This is where we are discussing how the project will be organised, though any major changes will be signposted in G2G. There is no obligation to take part in challenges, but you may like to discuss NZ history and work with others to create quality New Zealand profiles. We’re a really friendly bunch.

Hi Sue,

On behalf of the England Project Leaders we're carrying out a check-in to see how all the members are doing and taking the opportunity to thank you for all your hard work over the past six months. Hi Sue,

Appreciate you have been busy adding profiles to the tree. Could I ask you to review your suggestion list as you have a number showing up in the general weekly feed.

I have worked a couple this evening and have another 20 on just the location list mainly due to the use of all capitals a common mistake we all make.

You have others to review also this is the link https://wikitree.sdms.si/function/WTWebUser/Suggestions.htm?UserID=18978648

We recommend that folk visit their suggestion list periodically and the link can be found in the drop down menu's at the top of any profile you manage.

Appreciate any assistance you can give to reducing the suggestions in the tree.

Regards Janet

I think there maybe a connection in your Gee line and mine. I will try to look at later. But thanks anyway
