Biography

Henry Gatlin has Irish ancestors.

Henry was born on 28 June 1884 in Nashville, Davidson, Tennessee, United States.[1] He was the son of William Gatlin and Sarah Dyer.[2] He was probably named after Henry Calaway Brown, his mother's first cousin's husband.

He married Rose Kuenninger on 5 December 1905 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.[3]

He married Anna Gertrude Tarkington on 19 November 1909 in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee.[4] He did not divorce Rose until 21 March 1916,[5] more than five years after her death. Apparently he did not know that Rose had passed away.

In 1918, he worked as a printer for Excelsior Printing Co., Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.[6] In 1920, he was a compositor in a printing office.[7] In 1927, he worked as a foreman at Bowman Publishing Co. in Evanston, Cook County, Illinois.[8] In 1929, he worked as a business agent for Typographical Union No. 16, Chicago.[9] He was also a member of the union.[10] In 1942, he worked for City Hall in Chicago.[11] By then, he had married Louise Elliott.

He died on 28 February 1954 at St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, Kane County, Illinois[12] and was buried in St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove, Cook County, Illinois on 4 March 1954.[13][14]
