Matilda was born in Waddington Selwyn Canterbury New Zealand on 6 Apr 1881. She was the daughter of Charles Gamble and Matilda James. Matilda married in Waddington Selwyn Canterbury New Zealand on 29 Jul 1903 to Charles Henry Austin. Matilda is the mother of four children, Herbert John, Dorothy Pearl, Ronald Charles and Harold Gamble Austin. She passed away in Stratford Taranaki New Zealand on 19 Oct 1949 at the age of 67/8 years old and buried in Kopuatama Cemetery 44 Block 71, Stratford, Taranaki, New Zealand.
