Helen Fraser was born on January 27, 1885 in Morpeth, Northumberland, England, United Kingdom^[1], daughter of John Fraser (1849– ) and Anne Edmond (1843– ).

In the Scotland 1891 census Nellie (age 6), Scholar, was the daughter of John Fraser in New Row, 1, Inveresk, Inveresk & Musselburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.^[2]

In the Scotland 1901 census Helen (age 16), Farm outdoor worker, was the single sister-in-law of Archibald Reid at 6, Front Street, Prestonpans, Haddingtonshire (East Lothian), Scotland.^[3]

Helen (20) married John Ferguson Nisbet (19) (born on March 17, 1886 in Uphall, Linlithgowshire, Scotland; son of John Nisbet and Mary Ann (Ferguson) Nisbet) on November 24, 1905 in Prestonpans, East Lothian, Scotland. ^[4]Their children were:
