Biography

Florrie (Flint) Fawcett was born in Lancashire, England.

Florence Annie Flint was born in 1887 in Oldham, Lancashire, England. ^[1] She was the daughter of Frederick Fletcher Flint & Elizabeth (Ogden) Flint, and was born on 8 Jan 1887, and baptised on 9 March 1887 in St Paul, Oldham. The family were living at Gathorne Place, Lee Street at this time, and her father was a Spinner. ^{[2] [3]}

In 1891 the family were lodging with William Holden and his wife in Edith Street, Oldham. Florence Annie was 5 years old, ^[4] and in 1901 age 14 she was working as a Tenter in a Cotton Mill.^[5]

On 10 April 1909 Florence married James Martindale at St Paul, Oldham, Lancashire, ^[6] and in 1911 they were living in Marion Street, Oldham. Florence was 24 and employed as a Card Room Intermediate Head Tenter. Husband James was working as a Cotton Spinner, and they had a baby daughter Florence. ^[7]

James and Florence emigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada some time after 1911, ^[8] and James joined the Army in WW1, as a Private in the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (Eastern Ontario Regiment), but he died in 1917 and was buried in the New British Cemetery, Passchendaele.

Florence returned to canada in 1919 ^[9] and she married Arthur Fawcett on 10 September 1923 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. ^[10] Arthur had also emigrated from England, and was born in Rochdale, Lancashire. They had one son James Arthur Fawcett about 1927.

Florence died in 1975 and was buried at Eastlawn Cemetery, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with a death date of 1975.^[11]
