Mary Ann was born on the 7 September 1829 in the Market Town of Saffron Walden, in the Uttlesford district of Essex, England. She is the daughter of Moses Fletcher and Rebecca Bacon.

Her baptism takes place on the 26 October 1928 at the Parish Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, Church Street, in the Market Town of Saffron Walden, District of Uttlesford, in Essex, England^[1].
