Biography

Isabella Finlay was born in 1855 in Drummawhey, County Down, Ireland a daughter of Samuel Finlay ^[1]

Marriage

She married George Kelsey (1854-1925) on 17 April 1875 in Kelloe, County Durham, England. One reciord says her father was Samuel Finley and another as William Johnson. Needs Checking. ^[2][3][4]

Life Story

In 1881, she is 26 yrs old and her husband was a brakesman in a coal mine living with their family at Cottage Row, Coxhoe, Durham. This census records her birth as being in Ireland and future ones give Drummawhey, County Down, Ireland. Needs checking ^[11]

She and her family are living at 10 Moor Row, Coxhoe, Durham in 1891, and George is a stationary engine driver in the coal mine. ^[12]

In 1901, they are living at High New Row, George is a underground engine man and hauler at the coal mine. ^[13]

In 1911, the census shows George and Isabella living with their son, James at 12 High New Row. James is a fitter and George an engineman at the mine. ^[14]

Death

She passed away on 17 August 1926, just months after her husband passed, living at 12 High West Street, Kelloe, Durham, England. Her estate valued at £339. 2s 9d was probated to James Kelsey an electric power station attendant. ^{[15] [16]}
