In 1870 Richard was arrested for sheep stealing he got 5years Penal Servitude This must have been a very difficult time for his wife Agnes on her own with a small child

In December of 1915 the Influenza Epidemic Spanish Flu was rife in New Zealand Sadly Richard contracted the flu and had to be buried in Oamaru
