In the 1939 register, Iris (age 22), GPO Telephonist London Telephone Service, was recorded as single at 38 Westfield Road, Crayford, Kent, England. She was living with her parents and brother Stanley^[3][4].

Iris was employed as a telephonist in the Postal Service at the East Horsley telephone exchange in December 1941.^[5]

Iris's marriage to Arnold G Macleod was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1942 in the Surrey South Western district.^[6].
