Arlene Frances Mary Fairbairn SMYRNA - Arlene Frances Mary Fairbairn, 66, of Curncross Rd., passed away Saturday, December 1, 2001 at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton, NY. She was born in Arena, NY, on April 2, 1935 a daughter of the late Ellsworth Frederick and Buelah Bronson Kittle and attended local schools. Arlene was united in marriage to Herman O. Fairbairn. He predeceased her in 1982. She attended the Smyrna United Methodist Church and was active in the Smyrna Grange. Surviving are her children Larry and Donna Kittle of Bainbridge; Randy and Gloria Fairbairn of Smyrna, Victor and Diane Fairbairn of Harpersfield, Alan and Jennifer Fairbairn of Roxbury, and Tammy and Raymond Hayes of South Kortright; a sister Bessie Balcom of Dunhaven; sixteen grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins including Marguerite Lane of Margaretville and her cousin and best friend Marie Jaikin of Stratford. She was predeceased by her companion Glenn Ackerley. The funeral service was held on Thursday, December 6, 2001 from the Burgess Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY. Graveside services were held on Thursday, at the Margaretville Cemetery, Margaretville.
