Isabel Fairbairn was born about 1803 at Broomhill, Melrose, and baptised on March 20, 1803 in Melrose, Roxburgh, Scotland. Isabel is the daughter of Robert Fairbairn and Margaret Elliott.
The baptism entry for 20 March 1803 reads: Robert Fairbairn and Margaret Elliot in Broomhill, a.d.n. Isabel; w. John and James Mercer. [1]
Isabel Bookless died 4 Nov 1882 at Heiton Mill, Roxburgh, Roxburghshire, Scotland.
The death cert. shows Isabella BOOKLESS as 79, wife of William BOOKLESS, gen. lab, d/o Robert FAIRBAIRN farm servant & Isabella (sic - should be Margaret) m.s. ELLIOT, both dec'd; d. 11am of gradual decay, no medical attendant; Inf. Andrew THOMSON, son-in-law; Reg. 6th; [2]
Research notes
It is believed that Isabel's mother's name of Isabella on her death cert. is an error for Margaret.
She and her son Elliot were living with Isabel's brother John (relationship admittedly not stated) in the 1841 census, and John's death cert. shows his parents as Robert Fairbairn and Margaret Elliot, which fits with the baptism of Isabel to these parents. Henderson-2297 22:07, 3 April 2018 (EDT)
