Title: Death Announcement: Morris, Sarah Durham Publication: Parowan, Utah: Parowan Times, July 6, 1916 Text: AGED LADY DEAD Sarah Morris, an aged resident of Parowan passed from this life Monday morning, the cause of death being general debility and old age, she being over 91 years old. The deceased was born june 6 1825, at Oldham Lancashire England In early life she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having been converted and baptized by Cyrus H Wheelock She studied music under Prof. W Warrington along with her brother, Thomas Durham, and was closely assosociated with him in choral work the greater part of their lives She led the choir in the branch where she resided after her brother emigrated to Utah. She was married to Wm Morris August 20, 1848, and became the mother of nine children, five of whom survive her In 1862 with her husband and children she emigrated to Utah, arriving in Parowan in October of that year, and resided here ever since, sharing the trials and hardships incident to settling of new countries One severe trial was the death of a 10 year old daughter who was buried by the wayside at Rocky Ridge, Wyoming, while she was enroute to Utah She was a member of the Parowan choir for many years and went to Salt Lake City in 1870 when the choir had the privilege of singing to Gen W. T Sherman Mrs Morris was a wonder in some respects, for although over 91 years of age she kept her faculties intact up to within a few days of her death, her hearing being keen and her eyesight almost perfect, and her memory unimpaired She could remember distinctly events which transpired from the time she was 3 years old She was always a great reader and kept posted on current events and public questions up to the last She is survived by 5 children, 32 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren her husband having preceeded her to the great beyond over 14 years ago. Her surviving children are Mrs Mary Ann Rasmussen, Cowley, Wyo, Mrs Lizzie Decker, Sanford Colorado, Mrs Emma Decker, Maneus, Colorado, and Wm T and Geo D Morris, Parowan, Utah Page: Vol. 1, Number 37, Page 8 Data: Date: 6 Jul 1916

Durham-3797 and Durham-439 appear to represent the same person because: When I removed the postponed merge status, it required that a new merge request be created. The information matches.
Durham-3797 and Durham-439 are not ready to be merged because: It appears that these records are for the same person. However, the one record shows Sarah Jane Durham Morris as the name, but I am not aware that Jane is part of the name. This ought to be resolved prior to merging the record.
