Andrew McBain was born in 1891 in the RM of Stanley, Manitoba to Alexander Dudgeon and Wilhelmina Telfer.[1]

Andrew McBain Dudgeon served overseas during World War I. He had chronic bronchitis and laryngitis while overseas and spent some time in hospital. He suffered a gunshot wound to the hand, a gunshot wound to the neck and ear, a shrapnel wound to his right hand and was exposed to mustard gas during his service.[2]

Following the war, he married Bertha Ellen Johnston in 1920.[3]
