Biography

Jane Dickson (or Dixon) was born about 1780 at Sydenham House, Kelso, Scotland. She was the daughter of Admiral William Dickson and Jane Collingwood,^[1] and step-daughter of Elizabeth Charteris.

She married her cousin Archibald Dickson in September 1801 in Kelso.^[2] Archibald and Jane were cousins twice over:

• Archibald's father John Dickson was the younger brother of Jane's father William Dickson (both were sons of Archibald Dickson)
• Archibald's mother Elizabeth Collingwood was the younger sister of Jane's mother Jane Collingwood (both were daughters of Alexander Collingwood.)

Jane died on 6 December 1856 in Morpeth. She is buried at St. Mary the Virgin Churchyard in Morpeth.^[3]
