Newitt Deas has Scottish Ancestors.

Newitt was born about 1795 in Chesterfield, South Carolina to Joel Dees and Elenor Deas. [1][2][3] He lived in Chesterfield and was listed on the 1840 Census. [4] His occupation was listed as "Farmer" in the industry of "Agriculture" on the 1850 Census. [5] The 1860 Census narrowed his location to the Old Store post office in Chesterfield. [6] In 1866 Newitt was listed on the IRS Tax list for South Carolina. [7] The 1870 Census showed he was still a "Farmer" in "Agriculture" at Old Store post office in Chesterfield. [8][9]

Probate papers containing appraisal and inventories were dated between the 11th of April 1872 and the 13th of March 1878. Among those who received property were Wilson Dees, Levi Dees, and A.W. Dees. [10]

Hi! Thank you for your work on this profile. I have a DNA match to several descendants of Newitt's children on Ancestry. I also found sources for Newitt including his probate papers which list Levi (my ancestor) among the children. I am new to Wikitree and would like to collaborate on this profile.
