Mercy was a Friend (Quaker)

Mercy Day

She was born on 11 Apr 1775, her birth being noted in the meeting book of the Thaxted Essex quakers.[1]
She married Joseph Markes Green on 28 Oct 1795 at the Saffron Walden, Essex Quaker meeting house. [2][3]
Her husband passed away about 1840, leaving a will as of "Joseph Markes Green of Saffron Walden, Essex, gentleman". [4] [5]
She died in 1855 in Saffron Walden, Essex, leaving a will as of Saffron Waldon, Essex, widow. [6] [7]

    • To my eldest son Thomas Day Green my messuage containing 102 acres in Cranfield, Bedfordshire and in the occupation of Edward Odell, with the rent of £100 to my wife Mary.
    • Also my share of a freehold messuage in Saffron Walden, Essex purchased of Charles Barnes to my son Thomas Day Green.
    • Also my freehold dwelling house wherein I now dwell unto my wife. And after he decease same to my brother-in-law Richard Day, my son in law John Stephenson Robson and my son Thomas Day Green, to dispose of the same by public sale. This revenue to be divided among my five daughters, Susannah the wife of Gundy Neave, Priscilla Green, Rachel the wife of John Stephenson Robson, Eliza Ann the wife of John Hopkins, and Caroline Green,
    • To my daughter Susannah wife of Gundy Neave £1200
    • To my daughter Priscilla Green £1200
