Biography

John Charles (Jack) Dawe was born in 1885 in Coleys Point or Port de Grave, Newfoundland. He is the son of Charles Dawe and Mary Jane Bishop[1]

He married Etta LeDrew, and they had six children. In his wife's newspaper article when she was 106, she said they moved to the United States where he worked as a night watch at a lumber company while she was a cook.

He worked at the mill and then moved to Pasadena and became a farmer mid-1930’s.

In the 1935 Census, he was 50 years old living in Pasadena, Humber, Newfoundland with his wife, Ethel “Etta” and the following children:[2]

  3. Mamie
  4. Herbert
  5. Charles
  6. Hilary

In the 1945 census, he was 61 years old living in Pasadena, Newfoundland with his wife and three children.[3]

He passed away in 1963 in Pasadena, Newfoundland at the age of 80 and is buried in the Jehovah Witness Cemetery in Pasadena, Newfoundland.
