Biography

Sarah would seem to have been born out of wedlock to Jane Daw in about 1813 and to have been baptised in Enford, Wiltshire, England on 6 June, 1813. The father was reputed to be a local farmer called Stephen Phillimore (otherwise Phillemore or Fillimore). It would appear that her parents did not marry each other. Sarah first married Job Biffin on 21 July 1832 in Enford, Wiltshire, England. After the death of her first husband in 1833, Sarah married William Carter on 15 October 1835 in Enford, Wiltshire, England. In the 1841 census Sarah (age 25) was living with her second husband, their children, her son Charles Biffin from her first marriage and with her mother in Enford, Wiltshire. In the 1851 census Sarah (age 36) was living with her second husband, their children and her son Charles Biffin from her first marriage in Enford, Wiltshire, England. In the 1861 and 1871 censuses Sarah was living with her second husband, but she passed away during Q1 of 1877.
