Biography

OBITUARY.

One of the oldest of Kangaroo Island's residents, Mrs Cecilia Margrie, passed away at her home, Cygnet River, on Wednesday, 11th. July, at the age of 93 years. She was the second daughter of the late Mr and Mrs J. W. Daw of Cygnet River, and was born at a gold diggings near Melbourne, Victoria, on 3rd. January, 1852. When 12 years of age, she came to Kangaroo Island with her parents, in the little schooner "'Kangaroo," landing at the Bight of the Bay, where they resided for some time. The family then moved to Cygnet River. She married the late Mr Tom Margrie. There are two sons, Clarence and Frank. The late Mrs Leo Barnes was a daughter.
