Biography
Oscar Davis migrated from Australia to New Zealand.
Oscar was born 12 March 1835 at New Norfolk, Tasmania. [1]
After working on the Australian diggings for four years, he came to New Zealand aboard the Wanderer, arriving Dunedin in September 1859. He spent time living in many places around Otago, working as a bootmaker and also trying the goldfields. [1]
In 1875 in New Zealand he married Fanny Ash, eldest daughter of Samuel and Mary Ash, Naseby. [2]
He passed away 23 May 1916 age 81 at Maheno. There were six sons surviving; one son and one daughter having predeceased him . The eldest son W. Davis was in France with the 8th Reinforcements at this time. [1] [3]
