Biography

John was born in 1770. He passed away in 1844.

John Davidson was a Farmer and a Baptist Minister, the son of the Reverend Alexander Davidson (1744-1817) and his 1st wife, Anna Bridges 1746-1783), who died following the birth of their 10th child, Elijah Barton Davidson. John was born in Gloucester County, Virginia in 1770. He married Rachel Ellis (1770-1846) in Tryon, North Carolina on April 28, 1785 and they had at least nine children. Their first child, Mary, was born in Rutherford Co., North Carolina c1787. By 1789, the family had relocated to Barren County, Kentucky, which is where the following children were born: Hezekiah, b. Feb 1, 1789 James Hardison, b. Aug 30, 1792 James Jr., b. 1794 Sarah "Sally", b. Mar 26, 1800 Jacob Ellis, b.Oct 31, 1801 Johnathan, b. c1802 and Willis Presnill, b. Jun 30, 1805. The family's final move was to Greene County, Illinois where they lived on a farm they named Green Hill Farm. John Davidson died on December 6th, 1844 on his farm which had been bequeathed to his son, Ellis. John was buried on Green Hill Farm on December 10th, 1844.
