Godfrey Dalrymple Dalrymple-White was born on 6 July 1866. He was the son of General Sir Henry Dalrymple White and Alice Elizabeth Malcolm.
He was educated at Wellington College, Berkshire, England and at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.
He gained the rank of Ensign in 1885 in the service of the Grenadier Guards and the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Grenadier Guards. He was Aide-de-Camp to General Officer Commanding British North America between 1892 and 1893.
He was Aide-de-Camp to the General Officer Commanding Home District between 1899 and 1900. He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1902, where he was mentioned in despatches.
Godfrey married Hon. Catherine Mary Cary (daughter of Lt.-Col. Byron Plantagenet Cary, 12th Viscount Falkland and Mary Reade) on 3 June 1912 at St. George Hanover Square, London, England.[1]
They had 2 children;
Godfrey held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Southport between 1910 and 1923, and from 1924 to 1931.
He fought in the First World War, and was mentioned in despatches three times. He was commander of the 5th (Reserve) Battalion, Grenadier Guards between 1914 and 1916; gained the rank of Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel in 1916.1
He was given the name of Godfrey Dalrymple White at birth. On 9 July 1926 his name was legally changed to Godfrey Dalrymple Dalrymple-White by Deed Poll.
He was created 1st Baronet Dalrymple-White, of High Mark, Wigtownshire [U.K.] on 28 July 1926.
He was invested as a Fellow, Zoological Society (F.Z.S.)
He held the office of Governor of Wellington College in 1936.
He died on 1 April 1954 at age 87.[2]
