Frances Elizabeth Croasdill was born in 1849 in Hexham, west of Newcastle, New South Wales (Australia). She was the fifth and youngest daughter (and younger of twin girls) of William Croasdill, the owner of the large 'Croasdill' estate, and his wife, Harriet. She was christened in the Church of England, Hexham. [1]
Frances married Reverend Sydney Grime in 1882 in Oamaru, Otago, New Zealand. [2] After having their first son, in 1884 the couple moved to England, where Sydney assumed the duties of chaplain to Her Majesty's forces at Aldlershot. Another son born in England. The young family voyaged to Newcastle, where he took up appointment as priest in Christ Church Cathedral. He would serve in that church for 29 years. Aged about 55 years, Frances passed away in 1904. Her probate was granted 27th May 1904. She was survived by Sydney and their five children.
