Elizabeth Crewe was born before the 31st December 1839 in Oldham, Lancashire, England, the seventh child, fifth daughter of Welsh born John Crewe (a shoemaker), and Yorkshire born Elizabeth Preston. [1][2]
On the 6th June 1841 Elizabeth and her family—father, James (38), mother, Elizabeth (33), sisters Sarah Ann (8) and Mary (4), and brother Thomas (6)—were living on "Prior'S Street", in the Parish of Oldham Cum Prestwich, Lancashire.[3]
Elizabeth Crewe died young.
Elizabeth passed away not long afterwards, without having reached her second birthday.[4]
Elizabeth Crewe was buried at St. Mary's Church, Oldham, on the 25th June 1841, with J Fallowfield as officiant for the burial. The register lists her as being in her 2nd year, and her abode is stated as "Priors" (which may possibly be meant to be Priory Street, as that is the address of the family across the years), Oldham, Lancaster, England. [5][6][7]
Lack of Christening
It is interesting to note that Elizabeth's siblings, Sarah Ann, Thomas, Mary, and Joseph (as yet unborn when Elizabeth was alive), were all christened on the same day—the 25th March 1842—in St. Peters, Oldham. Elizabeth didn't live long enough to be there, too.
