Biography

Alison Cowe was baptised on May 3, 1724 in Cockburnspath, Scotland. She was the daughter of David Cowe and Alison Brown of Oldcambus in Cockburnspath parish. The baptismal witnesses were George Cowe and Henry Cowe.[1]

Alison Cowe married William Kerr. They lived at Oldcambus in Cockburnspath parish, and had (at least) eight children:

  • Alison Ker, baptised on January 22, 1747 in Cockburnspath, Scotland. The baptismal witnesses were David Cowe and John Coltherd.[2]
  • John Kere, baptised on March 5, 1749 in Cockburnspath, Scotland. The baptismal witnesses were David Cowe and David Cowe (undoubtedly Alison's father and brother).[3] John probably died before 1755, as the name was reused.
  • Isabel Kere, baptised on April 7, 1751 in Cockburnspath, Scotland. The baptismal witnesses were David Cowe and John Kere.[4]
  • David Kere, baptised on April 1, 1753 in Cockburnspath, Scotland. The baptismal witnesses were David Cowe and John K.. (the page was torn at this point).[5]
  • John Kere, baptised on September 7, 1755 in Cockburnspath, Scotland. The baptismal witnesses were John Kere and David Cowe.[6]
  • William Kere, baptised on February 9, 1758 in Cockburnspath, Scotland. The baptismal witnesses were John Kere and John Miller.[7] William probably died before 1763, as the name was reused.
  • George Kere, baptised on July 27, 1760 in Cockburnspath, Cockburnspath, Scotland. The baptismal witnesses were David Cowe and John Kere.[8]
  • William Kere, baptised on August 14, 1763 in Cockburnspath, Scotland. The baptismal witnesses were David Greive and David Cowe.[9]
